About the Program

As BethanyKids has continued to provide surgical care and follow-up rehabilitation over the years, the need to offer appropriate assistive technology was a natural next step.

In many cases, we find children using donated wheelchairs that are broken or designed for someone much larger. Often, well-meaning people give their old wheelchairs to children across Africa, resulting in poorly fitted wheelchairs that can actually harm the child.

Our team provides appropriate wheelchairs following WHO guidelines. We also supply other assistive devices like crutches and walkers when available. With a vision to expand beyond wheelchairs, we are working to provide a range of assistive devices that empower children with disabilities.
